Creo Parametric Remote Automation Tips

Valuable config.pro settings to improve the performance of Creo Parametric for remote automation applications.

Why Remote Automation?

Remote automation allows you to control Creo Parametric from external applications — web services, batch scripts, or custom tools — without manual interaction. This is the foundation for CREOSON and server-side Creo processing.

Key config.pro Settings

Add these to your config.pro or config.sup file:

! Disable graphics for headless operation
graphics NO
opengl_visual_config no_opengl

! Suppress UI dialogs
prompt_on_exit NO
override_store_back YES
regen_failure_handling resolve_mode

! Performance tuning
mass_property_calculate automatic
trail_dir C:\temp\creo_trails

! Memory management
purge_frequency 5

Network Considerations

  • Latency: Keep Creo and the automation server on the same network segment
  • File access: Use local or fast-NAS storage for working directories
  • Licensing: Ensure floating licenses are available for automated sessions
  • Timeouts: Set generous timeouts for operations on large assemblies

Security Recommendations

  • Run automated Creo sessions under a dedicated service account
  • Restrict network access to the automation port
  • Log all automation operations for audit trails
  • Use separate Creo installations for interactive and automated use
