Export IGES Model

Overview​

This video demonstrates the Export IGES Model command in Nitro-CELL, which exports the active Creo model to IGES format from an Excel worksheet. IGES is a legacy neutral CAD format still used in many industries for exchanging surface and wireframe data between different CAD systems. The command triggers Creo's IGES export and saves the output file to a specified directory. The video shows how to enter the export command, specify the output path, execute the export, and verify the IGES file was created. This is useful for workflows that require IGES output for compatibility with older CAD systems or specific manufacturing processes.

Key Steps​

  1. Open the model to export in the Creo session
  2. Enter the Export IGES command with the output path and filename
  3. Execute the command to generate the IGES file
  4. Verify the IGES file was created in the specified directory
  5. Check the file to confirm valid geometry was exported

Tips​

  • IGES is best suited for surface and wireframe data exchange
  • Configure Creo's IGES export settings for the desired output type
  • Use STEP export instead of IGES when solid geometry fidelity is critical
