Mass Properties Model

Overview

This video demonstrates the Mass Properties Model command in Nitro-CELL, which retrieves mass property data from the active Creo model and writes it into the Excel worksheet. Mass properties include values such as volume, surface area, density, mass, and center of gravity. The command triggers Creo's mass property calculation and extracts the results into designated output columns. The video shows how to enter the command, execute it, and read the returned mass property values. This is useful for data collection workflows where engineers need to gather physical property data from many models into a centralized spreadsheet for analysis or reporting.

Key Steps

  1. Open the target model in the Creo session
  2. Ensure the model has material assigned for accurate mass calculations
  3. Enter the Mass Properties command in the execution worksheet
  4. Execute the command to calculate and retrieve mass property data
  5. Read the returned values from the output columns in the worksheet

Tips

  • Assign materials to models before calculating mass properties for accurate results
  • Regenerate the model before calculating to ensure geometry is current
  • Combine with data worksheets to collect mass properties from many models
