EXPORT Creo Assemblies as Sub-BOM Reports
Overview
This video shows how to export Creo assemblies as individual Sub-BOM reports using Nitro-BOM. Instead of generating a single flat BOM for the entire top-level assembly, this feature creates separate BOM sheets for each sub-assembly within your model. Each sub-assembly gets its own dedicated report listing only its direct children — the parts and lower-level sub-assemblies it contains. This approach is especially valuable for manufacturing environments where different teams or work centers are responsible for assembling different sub-assemblies. It also aligns with how many ERP and MRP systems expect BOM data to be structured: as individual, self-contained bills of material rather than one monolithic list. The video walks through configuring Nitro-BOM to split the export by sub-assembly, controlling which levels generate their own reports, and organizing the output into a multi-sheet Excel workbook or separate files.
Key Steps
- Open the top-level Creo assembly containing your sub-assemblies
- Launch Nitro-BOM and select the Sub-BOM export mode
- Configure which assembly levels should generate individual reports
- Run the export to produce separate BOM sheets per sub-assembly
- Review each sub-assembly's dedicated sheet in the Excel workbook
Tips
- Sub-BOM reports are ideal for feeding data into ERP/MRP systems that require per-assembly BOMs
- Use this mode when different teams need only their portion of the overall assembly
- Combine with parameter mapping to ensure column headers match your enterprise system's field names
