MODIFY Creo Parameters from Excel

Overview

This video walks through modifying existing Creo parameter values in bulk using an Excel spreadsheet and Nitro-BOM. Once your Creo models already have parameters defined, you can export the current values to Excel, make changes in the spreadsheet, and then import the updated values back into Creo. This is the most common Nitro-BOM workflow for maintaining and updating BOM metadata. Typical use cases include updating descriptions across an entire assembly, correcting vendor part numbers, changing material specifications, or updating revision levels after an engineering change order. The video shows how Nitro-BOM matches Excel rows to Creo components, identifies which parameter values have changed, and writes only the modified values back to the models. This targeted approach minimizes risk and ensures you're only changing what you intend to change.

Key Steps

  1. Export the current BOM and parameter values to Excel
  2. Edit the parameter values in the spreadsheet as needed
  3. Launch Nitro-BOM and select the Modify Parameters mode
  4. Point Nitro-BOM to your updated Excel file
  5. Execute the import to write the changed values back into Creo
  6. Save your Creo models to persist the updated parameter values

Tips

  • Export first, then modify — this ensures your Excel data matches the current state of your models
  • Use Excel's Find & Replace for bulk value changes across many rows
  • Review changes carefully before importing — Nitro-BOM will overwrite existing values
