Nitro-BOM Batch Processing - Directory
Overview
This video demonstrates Nitro-BOM's directory-based batch processing mode. Instead of manually selecting individual files or working from an assembly, this mode scans an entire directory (and optionally its subdirectories) for Creo model files and processes them all automatically. Nitro-BOM opens each model it finds, performs the configured operation — exporting parameters, creating new ones, modifying values, or deleting fields — and then moves to the next file. This is the most hands-off batch mode, perfect for processing large collections of Creo files stored in a common workspace or vault directory. The video walks through pointing Nitro-BOM at a target directory, setting file type filters (parts, assemblies, or both), configuring the operation to perform, and reviewing the batch results. Directory batch processing is especially useful for organization-wide parameter standardization efforts or periodic data extraction from file repositories.
Key Steps
- Identify the directory containing the Creo files you want to process
- Launch Nitro-BOM and select the Batch Processing - Directory mode
- Set file type filters to target parts, assemblies, or both
- Configure the operation to perform on each file
- Execute the batch and monitor progress
- Review the consolidated results in Excel
Tips
- Use file type filters to avoid processing unwanted file types in the directory
- Enable subdirectory scanning for nested folder structures
- Schedule directory batch runs during off-hours for large file collections to avoid disrupting other Creo users
