Rename InSession Model

Overview​

This video demonstrates the Rename InSession Model command in Nitro-CELL, which renames a model that is currently loaded in the Creo session. Unlike SaveAs, which creates a copy, the Rename command changes the actual name of the model in memory and updates it when saved. This is useful for workflows that involve renumbering parts or updating model names to match a new naming convention. The video shows how to enter the Rename command with the current and new model names, execute it, and verify the rename was applied. It also covers how Creo handles references in assemblies when a component is renamed in-session.

Key Steps​

  1. Open the model you want to rename in the Creo session
  2. Enter the Rename InSession command with the current and new model names
  3. Execute the command to rename the model in the active session
  4. Save the renamed model to persist the change to disk
  5. Update any assembly references that point to the old model name

Tips​

  • Always save the model after renaming to persist the new name to disk
